Plant deep in very rich compost to encourage strong roots and shoots. Tie to a stake and remove the first fruits as they appear. Towards the end of the summer, pinch the end of the shoot with 4 or 5 flowers to encourage the development of the last tomatoes. Use a slow release tomato fertiliser when planting and repeat the operation when the fruits are in full growth. Mildew preventive treatment with Bordeaux mix. Tips: A handful of nettles at the bottom of the planting hole reinforces the plant's resistance to disease. Plant in association with Indian carnations to protect the tomatoes against nematodes.
