Mycorrhizae (from Greek ‘myco' fungus and ‘rhiza' root) are fungi that form a symbiosis with the roots of a plant: the hyphae of the fungus overgrow the roots of the plant.
A well-known example of symbiosis is the truffle oak.
Each plant will establish an association with the fungus, which will facilitate the absorption of the substances essential for its growth. It is a very complex process resulting from the synergism of the roots of the plant with fungi boosting its development.
