OUR ANSWERs TO YOUR QUESTIONS

the autumn collection of perennials, biennials and bulbs

Do you also offer biennial flowers and perennials?
Certainly. These 2 selections are combined in our autumn catalogue, which is published in the first fortnight of June. Among the biennials you will find pansies, violas, myosotis, digitalis… ; among the perennials we offer daisies, primula veris, dianthus, delphinium, carnation, columbine, lupin, campanula, mullein ..

What to do when there is a chance of frost?
For your flowers delivered in spring : If you don’t have a greenhouse there are two solutions: either you can make them more vigorous under glass sheltered from the frost or you can plant them out in your balcony pots and containers and protect them against the frost by means of a hibernation cover (especially at night). As soon as there is no longer any chance of frost (from 15th May in most of the French regions) you can put your plants at their definitive places. For your flowers delivered in autumn: The perennials and the biennials undoubtedly need this cold period in order to flower well. So keep them outside and if there are prolonged cold waves, protect them with a bed of straw or a hibernation cover. Keep your soil neither too dry nor too wet. Too much water will cause weak roots and illnesses. Young plants which are too dry and almost wilted, hardly bear drought.

Can they be planted in any kind of soil?
At this stage the young plants still need to be planted in mould of good quality. Choose mould for young plants, possibly multi-purpose mould, and make sure it is not too rich. When will they flower?
With Minimottes allow for a good 4 weeks before you perceive the first flowers and for about 6 weeks for nice flowering. The numerous amateur gardeners who work with this system, think it is a real joy to see their plants grow and prepare for flowering. How long will they be flowering ?
This depends on the chosen type and variety but in most cases the annual flowers which are delivered in spring, flower from May until the first spells of frost.
